Whirlpool/Kenmore #3387134 Dryer Control Thermostat
(The 'troublesome' one)

Here's a control thermostat that's become infamous for cycling high and blowing out the #3392519 thermal fuse sitting next to it in many Whirlpool-built dryers, including Kenmores, Estates, Ropers, and Kitchenaids.

#3387134G dryer control thermostat

The photo above is of the generic replacement I've been using for the last several years, and unlike the original version, this one's been trouble free.

If your dryer has a blown thermal fuse with one of these t'stats sitting beside it and it's never been replaced, I recommend you replace them both. I've seen this so many times I always do that now, and it saves callbacks.

As we've discussed before, always make sure your vent system's open, too, with lots of airflow from the outside vent hood. A partially clogged vent duct can blow thermals and elements - even brand new ones - fast!

In most of the 29 inch (wide) models, this thermal fuse is located on the blower housing, in the back. Here's what it looks like:

(click the photo to order just this part)

In electric models, when this little thermal goes open, the dryer won't run at all. In gas dryers, the dryer will run, but there'll be no heat.

The good news is, the control tstat's not expensive, at $18.50 plus $5 Priority S/H. If needed, I can ship a new tstat and thermal fuse together for the same $5.00, making the total $30.50 for both parts, delivered.

The part number is printed on the original tstat, but if it's faded off yours, as is common, and you're not sure if this one's yours, just contact me with your model number (usually inside the door) and I'll be happy to double-check it for you before you order.

To buy the thermostat only ($18.50) using Paypal and have it shipped immediately via Priority Mail  ($5.00, 2-3 days to your US address!), click the button below (only $23.50 total, delivered!). Sales tax will be added if you're in PA.

(You don't need a Paypal account to pay securely with your credit card)

To buy both the thermostat and thermal fuse and have them Priority shipped together ($30.50 total), click this button:

If you'd rather order by another method, live outside the US, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me

Thank You!
