Whirlpool/Kenmore 279838 Dryer Element

Here's a brand-new heating element for Whirlpool-built dryers, the 'short version' 5400W/240V element, part #279838. This is a 'generic' replacement that has worked well for me for many years, and I highly recommend it. And considering the $80+ that Whirlpool currently wants for this element, you'll save some serious money here!

This a popular element used in Whirlpool, Kenmore and some Kitchenaids, and it's 'stupidly simple' to replace (I include instructions). Some of the earlier part numbers this one replaces are: 8565582, 3403585, 3398064, 206115, and 197030.

If you're not sure if this is the right one for your dryer, just drop me an email with your model number and I'll research it for you. (I stock most dryer elements. (The other ('long') Whirlpool/Kenmore element is on sale too!)

Please note: if you aren't sure your element coil is burnt open, either by testing it (with a meter or 240V test bulb) or pulling it out and finding an open spot (these usually burn out near the top), please don't order one of these until you've read this page. If you just can't figure it out, email me with your dryer model number (inside the door) and I'll be happy to help figure out what's causing the problem. Even though it's the first thing that comes to mind, there are several causes for a 'no heat' dryer in addition to an open element, and I don't want you to buy parts you may not need. Click here for help with getting the element out to look at its coil.

At this price, it's a good idea to keep one of these on hand if you're at all handy and enjoy the affections of an admiring spouse (and clean laundry) <grin>. Like oven bake elements, it seems like these always burn out on a weekend or holiday when you need them the most!

So save yourself some money and a trip to the parts store. Stay right there in your chair and I'll have the mailman bring it right to your door, anywhere in the US in about two days Priority Mail, for just $10.00!

To buy one immediately using Paypal (safely and securely use any credit card), click the button below. Current sale price is $36.50, so your total will be $46.50, delivered! Nearly $20 less than Whirlpool's price, I must say that's hard to beat, folks!

(You don't need a Paypal account to pay with your credit card)

If you'd rather order by another method, live outside the US, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me

Thank You!
