Whirlpool Washer
Agitator 'Dogs'
Part Number 285770 (Alt # 80040)

If
you own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, Roper, or Estate washer
purchased within the last 20 years or
so and the top half of its agitator isn't 'ratcheting' around
any more, then these agitator dogs should be replaced.
These
four little plastic pieces are responsible for driving the upper,
auger portion of dual-action agitators to properly wash larger loads.
They're purposely made of soft material and will wear out long
before the (more expensive) teeth that they engage. If you can turn the top of your
agitator in both directions, then these are worn out.
And
installation
is easy - You can do it if you're just a little bit 'handy'!
