Gas Dryer Ignition
System,
Newer 'M' Style Valve
Here's a diagram of a common dryer ignition system
that uses what we call the 'M' series gas valve. Burner shapes vary
depending on brand.
Use an ohmmeter to measure the
resistance of the 3 valve coils:
If resistance readings are outside these ranges,
replace the coils.
Cost is under $20 for the set.
They're easy to replace because, unlike previous
versions, the coil wires plug onto the coils with quick-disconnects. I've
changed many of them and have yet to replace even one of the valves as an
assembly. Other than coil failure, this valve's been very reliable.
