Here's an extremely hard to find, no longer available new part - one of the few that fails with any regularity on those great vintage Mixmaster mixers we affectionately call 'Plasticmasters', made primarily in the 1970's. They looked like these: 

This is the part you most likely need when your Mixmaster won't turn off, but keeps running even with its knob set to 'OFF' (The on/off switch contact arms on these break off, and that's when they just keep right on running). 

This is a good/used, tested governor, and it's not hard to replace if you're just a bit handy with tools. Quantities are very limited, so if you need one, don't wait!
