Sunbeam #10-18390GU-RC Vintage Mixmaster
Governor Resistor
(For Models 5 thru 12 and Later 70's
Mixmasters With Plug-in Cords)

Here's a rare and hard-to-find
governor resistor for those great old Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixers,
models 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12. Also used in most 70's models with cords
that plug in, like the MMA, MMB, 1-7A, etc.
This is the resistor that mounts to the top of older Mixmaster
governors, covered by an aluminum heat shield, and also to the forward
side of later 70's models governors. You'll usually find this one with
pieces of its original white coating charred and flaking off and its
contact ends badly corroded.
When one of
these burns open, the mixer will still
run, but will be "jerky", for lack of a
better word, at low speeds. If you ever
hear one running with a failed or
missing resistor, you'll immediately
know that word applies. ;-)
These haven't been available new from Sunbeam
for decades, so I salvage, load-test,
and restore them myself, and guarantee
them to work great in the above vintage
Mixmaster
models (120 volt US models only -
will not work in
220 volt models!).
Approx.
1-3/4" long, 1/2" diameter, the original
part this capacitor replaces was Sunbeam
part #10-18390 (I add "GU" to indicate
this is a good/used part, and "RC" to
indicate it's been recoated).
Note: The
capacitor, mounted to the bottom of the
governor in models 5-12, is the same
physical size as the resistor, but has a
different function, and the two
shouldn't be interchanged. I fabricate
and sell those brand new, posted
HERE.
If you should have any questions or need
any other Mixmaster parts, please feel
free to ask me. I stock some 150 vintage
Mixmaster motors as a parts source (I
also buy them, working or non-working,
if you have one to sell!)
You can
pickup easily downloadable service, parts, and owner's manuals for your
vintage Mixmaster
here. They're
direct, high quality scans of original,
no longer available factory service
manuals that we've used
in our shop for years!
These rare resistors sell to US buyers* for
$18.00 plus $7.50 Priority shipping/handling, $25.50 total for one. Quantity is always
limited, so if you'd like to order
more than one, please
contact me .
(Note: Due to
a current shortage of these resistors, I've removed the
payment button from this page. Please email me for current availability;
I may have just one or two left here. Numbers are getting very low, and my
sources for these are drying up. Not sure I'm going to continue
re-coating them; it's a very tedious, time-consuming process to do
correctly)
(You don't need a Paypal account
to securely pay using your credit card!)
* If you live outside the USA, or just have a question about these, please
click
here to email me. I can ship them to non-US addresses, but the shipping
cost is higher (and on 1-19-16 international postage rates went sky-high!)
